Resident Evil Village: Producers Provide A First Look Into The Game’s Development

 ABOUT The next generation of survival horror rises in the form of Resident Evil Village, the eighth major entry in the Resident Evil series. With ultra-realistic graphics powered by the RE Engine, fight for survival as danger lurks around every corner. Years after the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Ethan Winters has started over with his wife Mia, finally living in peace and putting the past behind them. However, Chris Redfield, the legendary hero from previous Resident Evil games, suddenly disrupts their life, throwing a devastated Ethan into a new and twisted nightmare in search of answers.

 

ony revealed the PlayStation 5 console at The Future Of Gaming event on June 11. Alongside the next-gen console, we also got a first look at two dozens of next-gen games. Each game was unique from the other in its own manner, but some games simply stood out from the rest. Resident Evil 8, or as the developers like to call it, Resident Evil Village was one of those games.

Producers on Resident Evil Village provide additional insight into the game

In the video published on Resident Evil’s YouTube channel, producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano, talk about specific details from the development of the survival horror. The producers explained the team’s decision not to call the game ‘Resident Evil 8’. Despite the Roman numerals for ‘8’ appearing in the logo for Village, they still preferred to name it Resident Evil Village.

 

Although Sony revealed the game at their PS5 event, the game will also release on Xbox Series X and Steam (for PC). Moreover, just like Resident Evil 7 and several other titles within the series, Village was developed using the RE Engine.
“We were able to take all that we learned from those titles along with our internal development efforts and optimize the latest version of the engine for the next generation of consoles,” Peter Fabiano said. “With the combined power of next-gen and RE Engine, we can take our developers’ visions into new heights,” Tsuyoshi Kanda added.
While the genre is survival horror, the studio is focusing more on the action this time. Moreover, the game will not implement any load times. “Realistic graphics and immersive audio coupled with no load times will really draw you into the world we’ve created for Resident Evil Village.”

  

Some details about the plot and gameplay

The producers went on to establish a few details from the plot. They confirmed that the game takes place some years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Once again, Ethan Winters features as the protagonist, who has returned to ordinary life in the titular village. Another hugely familiar character, a decorated hero, Chris Redfield, also returns.
